Welcome to Warkworth's Long Lunch
It's August in Warkworth, Ontario. It's time for celebration. This community of eight hundred, which is home to artisans, musicians, potters and farmers, is set in a valley of rich farmland in the beautiful Northumberland Hills. The street is blocked off and tables are stretched out to accommodate the hundreds who will gather so that the community can celebrate and enjoy the bounty of the region. Welcome to the seventh annual Warkworth Long Lunch, August 15th, 2010, between 11:30 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.Early in the day many Warkworth volunteers will be out blocking off the street, setting up the tables and chairs, decorating and all manner of preparations. The musicians will be tuning their instruments and a group in the corner will be shucking corn. The air will be filled with anticipation as the 6th Annual Long Lunch draws near.
The Warkworth Long Lunch is also a way to celebrate the culture of the region and have a midsummer's party to share each other's company across the table. It's clear and simple. The Long Lunch derives its name from the vision of its founders. Tables set end to end down the middle of one of the nicest main streets in small town Ontario. We welcome you to join us for this celebration.
